Dorothy Maxine Garrett

Dorothy Maxine Garrett, 87, entered into rest on Saturday, February 22, 2014.

Mrs. Garrett was born on July 5, 1926 in Jackson, Mississippi. She graduated from Central High School in Jackson, Mississippi in 1944 and worked with Southern Bell until marrying Donald Garrett from North Carolina. She attended Boling Street Methodist Church and Riverwood Bible Church where she ran the bookstore for thirty years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and helping at educational conventions across the country with School Pictures Inc. and Olan Mills pictures. In 2003 she and Don moved to Warner Robins to be closer to their family. Liberty Baptist Church became her church home. Her parents, George Winn and Lura Mae Vicory; and sister, Bobbie Mae Schmotzer, preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband, Donald Garrett and children; Melanie Elliott (Bill); Warner Robins and Brent Garrett (Debra); Canon City, Colorado; grandchildren; Michael Elliott (Jessica); Warner Robins and Paul Elliott (Kelly); Kathleen; four nephews and a niece. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers who so lovingly cared for and watched over Maxine. You are truly a blessing and a part of the family.

Visitation will be Monday, February 24, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at a later date at Lakewood Memorial Parks and Funeral Home in Jackson, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to Liberty Baptist Church, 1026 Kathryn Ryals Road Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
