Douglas "Ross" Mccullough

Mr. Douglas Ross McCullough, 71, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at his residence, under the care of Compassionate Care Hospice.

Ross was born in Macon, Georgia, on June 26, 1945, to the late Lamar Howard and Fannie M. Beasley McCullough. With great pride and honor, Ross served our country in the United States Air Force for several years of his life. After his honorable discharge, he was employed at Robins Air Force base for 46 years until his retirement. Later, he returned to Robins Air Force Base to work with a sub-contractor. In his spare time, Ross enjoyed playing guitar, drums, and singing. He was also an avid wood carver. Ross was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend, and he will certainly be missed by all.

Along with his parents, Ross was preceded in death by his son, Lenny McCullough.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 12 years, Sandra Marlene McCullough; daughters, Candy McCullough of Gainsville, Georgia; Lynn Mitchell (Steve) of Rupert, Georgia; son, Richard Terry Layfield (Belinda) of Ideal, Georgia; sister, Brenda J. Nettles of Warner Robins; brother, Lamar Howard McCullough, Jr. (Angie) of San Francisco, California; special grandchildren, Jessica Davis, Grace Layfield, Keely Mitchell, Turner Layfield, Thorne Rapee, Kayla Singletary, and Tyler McCullough; 2 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, June 16, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McCullough. After the service, Ross will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
