Dr. Mack C. Nelson, Sr.

Dr. Mack C. Nelson, 73, of Kathleen GA, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on June 29, 2021. Mack C. Nelson was born in Hiwannee, Mississippi on November 14, 1947 to the late Viola Hentley Pore.

Mack C. Nelson graduated from Riverview High School, in Waynesboro, Mississippi. He was an honor graduate, senior class president, and livestock judging team member. He received his undergraduate degree from Alcorn A&M College, Lorman, Mississippi, with a Bachelor degree in Agriculture; honors: President's Scholar, Cum laude. He graduated from Tuskegee Institute, Alabama, with a Master's in Plant and Soil Science (Area of Concentration in Soil Chemistry). He earned his Doctorate degree from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in Agricultural Economics (Area of Concentration: Production Economics and Farm Management); honors: Gamma Sigma Delta, Honor Society of Agriculture; Chi Gamma Iota, Veterans' Honor Society.

Brother Nelson was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Pore; grandmother, Ermer Daugherty; and two brothers: Charles A. Nelson (Ted) and Ronald L. (Minnie) Nelson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rose F. Nelson; and son, Mack C. Nelson Jr.; two daughters: Cheryl Nelson and Cynara Nelson with former wife, Addie M. Nelson; two sisters: Gloria Jean Nelson and Vivian Ruth McFarland; sisters-in-law: Marlene Mahotiere, Jacqueline Dorleans (Leo), Edna Joseph and Evelyne Fontaine; brothers-in-law: Michel Fontaine, Wilson Andre (Gladys), Yves Fontaine (Emline), Emmanuel Fontaine (Lunie); nieces and nephews: Christopher McFarland, Charlesette (Frederick) McFarland-Way, Antoine Nelson, Jenesa Nelson, Constance McFarland, KaDarius Traylor, Jayden Way, Channing Mitchell, Amyia McFarland, Caleb McFarland and a host of relatives and friends.

A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021, with a visitation following until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home, 417 S Houston Lake Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088. The funeral service celebrating Dr. Nelson’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church School, 300 S Davis Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088. For friends and family unable to attend, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/. Repast will follow the burial service at Warner Robins Banquet Hall, 508 Osigian Blvd Unit 3, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
