Dr. Vickery F. Williams

December 23, 1945 — August 16, 2018

On the evening of Thursday, August 16, 2018, Vickery Fred Williams, 72, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven.

Dr. Williams was born on December 23, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio to Mattie McGhee Williams and the late Willie F. Williams. He believed in the importance of a good education and earned himself a Ph.D. in Administration as well as a Th.D. He was currently the pastor of Big Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Pinehurst, Georgia, but had also served as pastor at Mount Zion Baptist Church in LaGrange, Georgia for over 20 years and as assistant pastor at Shiloh Baptist Church of Henderson where he was a member. During his illustrious career as a public school educator, he served in Dooly County, Bibb County, Hancock County, and Dougherty County before retiring from the Houston County Board of Education. His years of service found him teaching in the classroom as well as administrating as an assistant principal and school principal. Fishing, cooking, singing, and watching westerns were his hobbies, but nothing brought him more joy in life than time spent with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline Foster Williams.

His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring children, Tracie Williams Davis (Mark) of Newport News, Virginia, Angela Williams Camon (Carl) of Ray City, Georgia, Vickie Williams Smith (Tracy) of Warner Robins, and Kyna Williams (Michael) of Warner Robins; his 10 grandchildren, Jazmeen Lymus (Robert), Micah Davis, Courtney Smith, Carl Camon, Jr., Tracy Smith II, Jiamond Davis, Aaron Camon, Camille Camon, Candace Camon, Michael Williams II; his great grandchildren, Kameron Smith and Malaina Smith; his brothers, Bobbie Williams and Alonzo Williams; his sisters, Beulah Lowder and Amanda Johnson; and a host of adoring nieces, nephews, and extended family.
