On the afternoon of Monday, October 22, 2018, Mrs. Edna Pennycuff Dorris, 73, joined her Lord and Savior in heaven.

Edna was born on July 9, 1945 in Jamestown, Tennessee to the late Adam and Lee Pennycuff. She was the seventh of ten children. On February 28, 1967, Edna married the love of her life Larry Joe Dorris. They began their lives together when Larry was in the Military. Traveling all over the world, they visited places like Hawaii, Germany, and several U.S. states before eventually settling down in Warner Robins, Georgia. Together, Edna and Larry enjoyed raising their two wonderful children. Edna also loved being a grandma to her three beautiful grandchildren. In 2009, Edna retired from the Houston County Board of Education where she worked for over 22 years. Edna’s favorite pastimes included sewing, fishing, and watching NBA basketball.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ed Pennycuff; sisters, Dean Goney, Jean Crabtree, and Rose Ledbetter.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband of 51 years, Larry Joe Dorris; son, Greg Dorris and his loving companion Betsy Wetzel of Brunswick, Georgia; daughter, Lisa Dorris of Warner Robins, Georgia; grandchildren; Joey Dorris, Rebecca Dorris, and Thomas Dorris; brothers Tommy Pennycuff, Nevins Pennycuff; sisters, Kathleen Cobb, Fannie Frogg, and Faye Dalton of Jamestown, Tennessee.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Houston Lake Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held later in Jamestown, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Edna Pennycuff Dorris to Houston Lake Baptist Church Building Fund, 2300 Highway 127, Perry, Georgia 31069.
