Elaine T. Harris

Elaine T. Harris, 88, entered into rest on Sunday, January 27, 2013.

Ms. Harris was born on September 4, 1924 in Ajo, Arizona to Sarah Jane and Felix Calvin Tunnell. She grew up in San Marcos, TX and attended San Marcos public schools and community college. She enjoyed a bookkeeping career in the oil and gas industry, as well as banking and trust divisions in Midland, Brownwood, and Lubbock, Texas. At the age 64, Mrs. Harris graduated from Lubbock Business College as she re-entered the workforce in computerized bookkeeping. She had a great appreciation for art, antiques, and was an amazing gardener.

A loving and devoted mother, her survivors include two children, James Patrick Harris, Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Mertzon, Texas and Holly Harris Welsh and her husband, Bill, of Kathleen, Georgia; Grandchildren, Parker Harris of Houston, Texas; Bradie Bradshaw and her husband, Taylor of New York City, New York; Shannon Meyer and her husband, David, of Tiger, Georgia; Lara West and her husband, David of Manassas, Virginia; Andrew Welsh of Atlanta, Georgia; and Alisha Welsh of Warner Robins, Georgia; Great-grandchildren: Madison and Harrison Meyer of Tiger, Georgia. She is also survived by three nieces, Laura Tunnell Snider and her husband, Mark, of O'Fallon, Missouri; Diane Tunnell of Kailua Kona, Hawaii; Janis Tunnell of Leicester, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her sister, Carlotta Hughes Hartman; and her brother, Maxwell Tunnell.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Christ United Methodist Church, Warner Robins, Georgia. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 in Sherwood Cemetery, Mertzon, Texas.
