Elizabeth Ann Jones

November 9, 1957 — September 12, 2012

Elizabeth Ann Jones, 54, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 after a courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's disease.

Elizabeth was born on November 9, 1957 in Colonia, New Jersey. She was a much-loved Language Arts teacher at Howard Middle School in Macon, Georgia and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. After being diagnosed with ALS a little over two years ago, Elizabeth became the first woman to participate in a new, experimental stem cell treatment to help find a cure for ALS, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, and many other debilitating diseases. Her father, Robert L. Jennings; and brother, Harold Jennings, preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her devoted husband and caregiver, Earl Jones, Centerville; daughter and stepson, Emily Jones and Tony Jones, both of Centerville; mother, Margaret Jennings, Warner Robins; sisters, Maureen Jennings, Los Angeles, California, and Margaret South, Warner Robins; brother, Robert Jennings, Morristown, New Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to The Emory ALS Center, Attn: Barry Steig, Department of Neurology, 1440 Clifton Rd, Ste. 112, Atlanta, GA 30322.
