Emma C. Martin

In the morning hours of Sunday, January 10, 2016, Emma C. Martin entered Heaven and was reunited with her parents Luther and Bonnie Dew Carden.

Emma was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Centerville for over 45 years. During those years she served in several positions in the church and loved the Shirley Strickland Sunday School Class. When Emma married Eddie she was employed in civil service until the birth of their children. She then made the decision to be a full time homemaker for the next 15 years. When her children were older she continued her career in civil service. Emma excelled in her career field and by the time she retired as a computer specialist; she had received several awards including the "Outstanding Civilian Career" award. Emma also loved to travel and spend time with her beloved family.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Orena Reeves.

Emma's memory will be treasured by her husband of 54 years, Eddie Martin; two sons, David Martin and Robert Martin; sisters, Louise Caldwell and Margaret Swafford; brothers, Eddie Carden (Joyce) and Tom Carden (Mary); sister-in-law, Shirley Queen (Bill); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with Emma's family will be Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of McCullough with Dr. David Grantham officiating. After the service, Mrs. Martin will be laid to rest in Centerville First Baptist Church Cemetery.
