Emmette E. Carroll, Jr.

Emmette Carroll, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2015.

Emmette was born on July 3, 1925 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Emmette, Sr. and Florence Dunn Carroll. As a young man, Emmette enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served with great pride and honor during World War II. After his military career, he began working in Civil Service at Atlanta Army Depot, and later retired from Robins Air Force Base. In 1973 he and his wife, the late Mary Edna Carroll, moved to Perry where he would he lived out the rest of his life. Emmette was a Scout Master and enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts of America. He also enjoyed teaching Youth Sunday school classes at several different churches over the years. Emmette was an avid reader of the Bible and enjoyed his time spent alone with God. He would pray fervently every morning for his beloved family. Emmette was a member of Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins.

Along with his wife, and parents, Emmette was preceded in death by 3 brothers and one sister.

Left to treasure his memory are his loving children, Bonnie Wynn (Fred) of Jonesboro; Earnie Carroll (Maxine) of Stockbridge; Diane Franklin (Larry) of Pell City, Alabama; and Adrian Carroll (Gail) of Perry; as well as his eight beloved grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2016 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with military honors. Emmette will be laid to rest in Georgia Veteran's Memorial Cemetery on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Emmette Carroll, Jr. to Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 2504 Moody Rd., Warner Robins, 31088.
