Estelle Collins Cheney

Estelle Cheney, 89, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 18, 2014.

Mrs. Cheney was born on August 6, 1924 in Buckhead, Georgia to the late William Earl Collins and Maude George Collins. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Centerville where she worshipped for fifty-five years. She devoted her love and time to the church she loved so much, teaching first and second grade Sunday School for over forty-five years, and was active with the Centerville Senior Citizens. She attended the Jackie Davis Sunday School Class and enjoyed having lunch with the "lunch girls". Estelle retired from civil service as an Electrician at Robins Air Force Base where she worked for thirty-three years. She was passionate about her family and loved spending time with them. Her parents and her beloved husband of fifty-two years, Hugh W. Cheney, Sr., son, Hugh W. Cheney, Jr., daughter, Sandra Sue Cheney; brothers, Don and Buddy Collins, and special friend, Gaile Durham all preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Gary Cheney (Marilyn), Kathleen; and Jenny Liles (Andrew), Centerville; brother, Russell Collins (Chris), Demorest; sister, Irene Clifton (Billy), Statesboro; sister-in-law, Lucille Collins, Stockbridge; grandchildren, David Cheney (Amy), Tucker; Aaron Liles, Keesler AFB, Mississippi; Will Liles, Centerville; Dustin Evans, Cochran; Jamie Gary (Ryan), Kathleen; Robby Cheney, Becky Cheney, both of Warner Robins; five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, February 21, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Centerville with interment following in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given to First Baptist Church of Centerville, 108 Church Street, Centerville, Georgia 31028.
