Eva Mclemore Horne

April 1, 1935 — December 14, 2020

Charles Lindbergh Horne, 93 years old, passed away on December 4, 2020. His wife, Eva McLemore Horne, 85 years old, followed him 10 days later on December 14, 2020. They had just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on October 19 and where Charles went, Eva followed.

Charles Horne was born on June 21, 1927 in Plainfield, Georgia to the late Charlton and Addie Horne. He joined the Army-Air Force in 1946 and received an honorable discharge in 1949 after being injured while on active duty. He served in Iwo Jima as a Demolition Disposal Expert.
Charles sang and played guitar with the Mid State Trio Band at nursing homes and churches from Florida to Georgia. Together, with his daughter, Kitty, he wrote more than 40 country gospel songs. He retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base as an Aircraft Systems Supply Technician.

Eva Horne was born on April 1, 1935 to the late David Hazzard McLemore, Sr. and Eva Lottie Williams McLemore. She worked in retail after marrying Charles. She worked at M&T Drive-In Theater before becoming a licensed hairdresser for over 40 years at Cameo Beauty Salon.
Eva was also very active in the community, teaching Sunday School classes at nursing homes and at Oakland Baptist Church. She loved working in her yard and won the 2019 Yard of the Year for Warner Robins.

They had two children, Mitzi Leonard and Charles Lindbergh Horne, Jr. who preceded them in death.

Left to cherish their memories are daughter, Kitty Mantz; grandchildren, Kendra Evans (Josh), Deanna McDaniel (Ryan), Shasta Harris (Cam), Autumn-Lynn Leonard (Branden), Timothy Leonard, and Summer Leonard; great grandchildren, Clayton McDaniel, Leah-Dean McDaniel, Isaiah McDaniel, Ryanna McDaniel, Kitty-Sue McDaniel, Savannah McDaniel, Jubilee McDaniel, Charles McDaniel, Annabelle McDaniel, Abigail Lottie McDaniel, Israel McDaniel, Theresa McDaniel, Zachary Harris, and Paisley-Rose Harris. Charles is also survived by his half sister, JoAnne Horne Page. Eva is also survived by brothers, James Henry McLemore (Evelyn) of Orlando, Florida, Horace Carter (Joy) of Albany, Georgia, and David Hazard McLemore (Dot) of Plains, Georgia.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his siblings, John Benjamin Horne, General James Horne and Esther Grace Dixon. In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her brothers, David Victor McLemore, Walter McLemore, Herbert McLemore, and Eugene Talmadge McLemore; and sisters, Victoria Leary, Viola Kelly, and Susan Virginia Perry.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Charles and Eva Horne to the Oakland Baptist Church Building Fund, 1509 Russell Parkway, Warner Robins, GA 31088.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held for the Hornes on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with burial following at Magnolia Park Cemetery. For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
