Frances Juanita Keen Bridges

March 24, 1923 — July 4, 2015

Frances Juanita Keen Bridges, 92, March 24, 1923 to July 4, 2015 was reunited with the love of her life after nearly forty-three years apart. Her husband, Lawson D. Bridges predeceased her on August 25, 1972.

Nita was born in Dalton, Georgia, the oldest child of Forest and Maude Keen. She was a longtime resident of Houston County and Bonaire, arriving shortly after World War II. Nita was a resident of Brighton Gardens Memory Care Facility in Atlanta, Georgia for the past year and a half and was also under the excellent care of Regency Hospice for the last six months. She received never ending love and support from the all of the staff at both places, and for that, her family is grateful.

Nita loved gardening and cooking. Her fried chicken, many pies, and pound cakes will long be remembered by those who had the pleasure of experiencing them. Nita was an active member of the Baptist faith, often taking meals whenever there was sickness or a death among the families within the community. For many years, she taught the Women's Sunday School at Green Acres Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Bridges of Connecticut, Julie Bridges of Macon, Georgia, Sissy Butler (Joel) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Janet Bridges of California; six grandchildren, James Bridges (Marissa Salinas) of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Andrew Bridges (Isaac Ashdown) of Berlin, Germany, and Caitlin Bridges Moore (Jacob), Connor Bridges, and Dylan Bridges, all of Macon, Georgia, and Ella Bridges of California; twin great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Olivia Bridges, both of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Following the service, the family will receive friends at The Farmhouse at McCullough Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at Magnolia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Juanita Keen Bridges to the Alzheimer's Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon, GA 31201, www.alz.org or the Lymphoma-Leukemia Society, Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202, www.lls.org.
