Franklin D. Cooper, Sr.

In the early afternoon of Sunday, January 17, 2016 Franklin D. Cooper, Sr., 81, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 30, 1934 in Glenwood, Georgia to the late Dennis and Bertha Branch Cooper. Franklin attended Georgia College where he received his Bachelor's Degree after enlisting in the United States Army. Following his military career, he worked as a procurement contract officer at Robins Air Force Base retiring after 36 years of service. Franklin was an active member of Byron United Methodist Church, Faith Sunday School Class, and the Keenager's group. He was an avid golfer and master woodworker.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 56 years, Faye Mullis Cooper of Byron; children, Frank D. Cooper, Jr. of Stone mountain; Vickie Stinson of Kathleen; and Malia Veator (Tommy) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Sonya Stinson, Lawrence Stinson, Trevor Veator; as well as three siblings, L.C. Cooper of Glenwood; Ray Cooper of Macon; and Frances Whitley of Macon.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2016 in the Chapel of McCullough. Following the service, Franklin will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Franklin D. Cooper, Sr. to Byron United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 6, Byron, Ga 31008 or the Alzheimer's Association, 886 Mulberry Street, Macon, Ga 31201.
