Franklin Delano Childress, Sr.

On the morning of Friday, May 5, 2023, Franklin Delano Childress, Sr., 89, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven.

Franklin was born on January 21, 1934, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to the late Richard and Cassie Childress. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. Franklin dedicated many years working Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base prior to his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors and his time fishing and camping. Franklin loved working in his yard, which was immaculately maintained. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beulah Pearl Childress; son, Frank Childress, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Karen Childress; grandson, Christopher Head; sister, Alice Childress; and brothers, George Childress and Don Childress.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving daughter, Melanie Red (Warren); grandchildren, Hunter Red, Chancy Childress, Frank Childress, III (Haley), and Kathleen Buzzell; great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and brothers, Doug Childress (Gail) and Richard Childress.

Visitation with Franklin’s family will be Tuesday, May 9, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating his life will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Cleghorn officiating. Following the service, Franklin will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
