Frederick Murph Dixon, Jr.

September 24, 1945 — September 12, 2020

Fred Murph Dixon, Jr., dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother, entered into rest on Saturday, September 12, 2020. He was 74 years old.

Born on September 24, 1945, in Montezuma, Georgia, Fred was the son of the late Doris Lucille and Frederick Murph Dixon, Sr. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia Southwestern University. Fred retired from the Georgia Farm Bureau as an insurance adjuster.

He was deeply devoted to his family and career, but music consumed the other part of Fred’s heart. He had a gift and passion for it, and over the years taught himself how to play guitar by ear. Fred was honored to have played with his brother and friends in ‘The Missin’ Links Showband’ for over fifty years. The band opened and played with many big name groups throughout the South, as well as for weddings, benefit concerts, reunions, and all sorts of other events. Fred’s love for his family and music will forever leave a song in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Dixon.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Clarice Dixon; his children, Eric Dixon and Lisa Anthony; grandchildren, Lake, Kade, and Moses Dixon, and Summer and Zane Anthony; brother, Johnny Dixon; sister, Lutricia “Tricia” Johnson; and a number of extended family and friends.
