Fritz W. Sims

On Tuesday, September 26, 2017, Fritz Sims, 91, left his earthly body and entered into the heavenly gates to reside with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ forevermore.

Mr. Sims was born on July 8, 1926 in Warrenton, Georgia to the late Pelham and Myrtie Roberts Sims. Fritz found his greatest joys expressing his love for his family and embracing a special friendship with his many friends who stopped by to see him nearly every day. He was retired from 32 years of Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. Fritz was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved to grace the dance floor, and cherished working in his garden. He was also a longtime member of VFW Post 6605.

His wonderful life will always be remembered by his wife of 67 years, Barbara “Jackie” Sims; daughter, Yvonne Gwaltney (Mark) of Bonaire; sons, Donald L. Sims (Lisa) of Warner Robins, Marion F. Sims of Warner Robins, and Michael Sims (Tenderle) of Bonaire; grandson, Bailey Sims; granddaughters, Stacey Crawford-Jackson (Brian) of Kathleen and Shelley Teer (Tyler) of Roanoke, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Bryson and Sarah; step-grandson, Robert Cannon (Dawn) of Tampa, Florida; and two step-great-grandchildren, Chase and Makayla Cannon.

Visitation with Mr. Sims’ family will be Friday, September 29, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A celebration of Fritz Sims’ life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Slade officiating. Following the service, Mr. Sims will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens.
