Gary Brown

September 26, 1938 — June 21, 2017

Gary Brown, 78, walked into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 21, 2017.

Gary was born in Blackman, Florida on September 26, 1938 to the late Russell and Pauline Reece Brown. A proud United States Air Force Veteran, he came to Warner Robins where he met the lovely Doris Forehand, and made her his wife on September 20, 1959. Subsequent to his military career, Mr. Brown retired from Robins Air Force Base after 37 years of civil service. Not content to sit around after his retirement, he worked as a school bus driver for the Houston County Board of Education for 11 years. Gary was a longtime faithful member of Second Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher as well as a church bus driver. He loved his country, and he loved his church, but his primary focus in life was caring for his wife and children.

In addition to Gary's parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, R.J., Buck, and Sam Brown.

His memory will forever be treasured by his devoted wife of 57 years, Doris Brown of Warner Robins; children, Lisa Brown Miller (Robert) of Yemassee, South Carolina, Pattie Brown Brooks (Isaac) of Bonaire, and Lee Brown (Rebecca) of Jacksonville, Florida; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Lena Brown Trussell (Billy) of Warner Robins and Debra Brown Schodorf of Mobile, Alabama; and brother, Don Brown (Lillian) of Orlando, Florida.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Perdue and Rev. Mike Slade officiating. Afterwards, Mr. Brown will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery with Military Honors.
