Gene Deffenbaugh, 78, entered into rest on Sunday, September 15, 2013.

Gene was born on October 17, 1934, in Zanesville, Ohio. He was a faithful and active member of Second Baptist Church and the Soul Seekers Sunday School Class. Gene participated in the adult choir, served as Sunday School Class President and Assistant Secretary and Treasurer of the Men's Helping Hand Ministry. He retired after more than fifty years of dedicated computer programming at Blue Bird and then Middle Georgia State College formerly known as Macon State College. He was a loving husband, father and friend. Gene enjoyed bowling, golf and flying. His father, Charles William Deffenbaugh, parents, Kenneth and Rose Mae Anders, and grandson, Michael W. Marcy all preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of forty-six years, Dorothy Iris Deffenbaugh, children, Bambi Tuttle (Rick), Renville, Minnesota; Heidi Hagan (John), Oviedo, Florida; Mel H. Marcy, Jr. (Diane), Warner Robins; Wendi Bradley (Mitchell), Seminole, Florida; John J. W. Marcy, St. Augustine, Florida; Melony Moore (Robert), Kennesaw, Georgia; Laticia Shim (Kenneth), Perry; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 17, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Second Baptist Church with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to either Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA, 31088, Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 2504 Moody Road, Warner Robins, GA, 31088, or Helping Hands Ministry, 2504 Moody Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
