On the evening of Monday, January 9, 2017, George Canceran, Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven. He was 67 years old.
Born in Pasadena, Maryland, George was a proud United States Army Veteran who courageously served his country during the Vietnam War. He went on to dedicate 37 years with the Chevron Corporation and retired as a terminal superintendent. George was a devoted member of Southside Baptist Church and revered his church family and friends. He never met a stranger and his friendly disposition and willingness to make one feel welcome resonated with everyone he was around. In his free time, George enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, playing softball, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John G. and Mary Emma Canceran; sisters, Florence Humphries and Betty Burwick; and brothers, Wayne and George Strattis. His brother, John Canceran is his last living sibling residing in Pasadena, Maryland.
George leaves his memory behind with his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Canceran of Warner Robins; sons, George Joseph Canceran, Jr. (Mindy) of Warner Robins, John P. Canceran (Allison) of Kathleen, and James D. Canceran (Heather) and Robert Paul Canceran (Jennifer), both of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Landon, Justin, Jacob, Hadley Grace, and Cassandra Canceran; and a number of nieces and nephews, along with his extended family.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 12th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13th at Southside Baptist Church.
