George Joseph Monroe

George Monroe, 84, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018.

George was born on December 7, 1933 in Savannah, Georgia to the late Charles, Sr. and Lois Coley Monroe. He was currently working as a sales manager at Copaco where he had worked for over 20 years. George was a man of good humor and good faith. He knew when he left the hospital he was either going home to the Lord or back to work. He loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed all sports, especially baseball. In his younger years, George played semi-pro baseball for a team in Savannah. One of George’s hobbies included bowling, where he won several trophies. George was also a Shriner, Mason, and an ordained deacon. George was an active member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church and Alice Upshaw’s Sunday School Class. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but will be reunited with his daughter, Danielle Miller, who preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret Monroe; children, Debra Diane Monroe, Cheryle Jodean Scates (Richard), Donna Michelle Tomkins (Mitch), Robert Miller (Leah); grandchildren, Ryan Tomkins (Carrie), Richie Scates, Holland Tomkins, Jessica Scates, Haley Tomkins; great-grandchild, Calium Tomkins, and several siblings.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 8, 2018, from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Shirley Hills Baptist Church. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:30 p.m. at Shirley Hills Baptist Church with Reverend Joe Haseldon officiating.

The family requests donations be given in memory of George Joseph Monroe to Shirley Hills Baptist Church Building Fund, 615 Corder Rd, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
