Gerrit Asher Dempsey

October 19, 1984 — May 13, 2021

Gerrit Asher Dempsey, formerly of Warner Robins and currently of Milledgeville, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on the afternoon of Thursday, May 13, 2021. He was only 36 years old at the time of his unexpected passing.

With his infectious smile and winning personality, Gerrit never met a stranger. He was a social butterfly and was the life of the party wherever he went. An enthusiastic entertainer, Gerrit enjoyed life, soaking in all of what this world had to offer. He could often be found spending time on the lake; as long as it was outdoors, Gerrit was all in. He was also a great cook and would often be found next to a grill.

A 2003 graduate of Warner Robins High School, Gerrit loved all sports but most of all, he was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He was employed as a supervisor and area manager at Van’s Pawn Mart in Milledgeville. It was a job that showcased his extroverted personality and he relished his time there. His family and friends were precious to him and he cherished all of the experiences he had with them.

Preceding Gerrit in death were his birth mother, Linda Kay Dempsey; and grandparents, Curtis and Hazel Dempsey and Joe and Vivian Andrews.

Those left to mourn the loss of Gerrit are his father and mother, Norman Van Dempsey and Jennifer Allyn Dempsey; sister, Millicent Victoria Parke (Randolph Jeffrey); and brothers, Ross Maxwell Dempsey and Hayden Alexander Dempsey (fiancé, Mary Katherine Grow).

The family will receive loved ones and friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at McCullough Funeral Home. Gerrit’s funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Gerrit will be laid to rest at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
