Glenn Arnold Turner

Glenn Arnold Turner, 62, passed away at Houston Medical Center on Friday, December 11, 2020, after losing his battle with COVID-19.

Glenn was born on November 15, 1958, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. When Glenn was a young boy his father, Roy, was a Lt. Colonel in the United States Army; together they traveled to Germany, France, and many other places before settling down in Columbus, Georgia. As a high school senior, Glenn began working as a storeroom employee at Morrison’s Cafeteria. During his 45 years of service with Morrison’s, Glenn held many different titles. His last and most current position was as Systems Director of Food and Nutrition at the Houston Medical Center. He met his wife of 44 years, Kimberly Daughdrill, in Columbus; they shared two children, Chris and Jennifer Turner.

In his spare time, Glenn loved watching all sports but his favorite team was the Los Angeles Rams; he attended many games and even traveled to New Orleans to see his team play in the Super Bowl. In addition to playing golf, hunting, and camping, Glenn was a loving father and his children’s biggest fan. He loved watching them play sports and would stand at the fence line constantly coaching as he cheered them on. He played basketball in his driveway with the neighborhood kids and backyard football with his son, Chris, and his friends.

Glenn is preceded in death by his father, Roy Turner; brother, Neal Turner; stepfather, John Hackler; nephew, Roy Turner III; and in-laws, Stan Daughdrill, Pat Daughdrill, and brother-in-law, Garry Daughdrill.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Turner; son, Chris Turner; daughter, Jennifer Turner; mother, Carolyn Hackler; sister, Pam Parker (Ed) of Columbus; brother, Roy Turner of Hamilton, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Louise Turner of Midland, Georgia; Karen Nation (David) of Cleveland, Tennessee; nieces, Nichole Thomas (Chris); Kati Turner, Kelli Gibbons; nephews, Phillip Cagle (Amanda); Spencer Cagle (Katie); great nephews, Whitaker Cagle, Turner Gibbons; great nieces, Caroline Cagle, Margaret Cagle, Collins Cagle, Sydney Thomas; and many beloved friends and coworkers.

At the family’s request, the memorial service for Mr. Turner will be private. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The family of Mr. Turner has requested that masks be worn during the memorial gathering.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Glenn Arnold Turner to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Ste. 900, Arlington, Virginia, or to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Ste. A, Macon, GA 31201.
