Gregory Harold Barnett

September 6, 1964 — April 28, 2021

A dedicated father and grandfather, Gregory Harold Barnett, 56, passed away at his residence on the morning of Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

Mr. Barnett was born on September 6, 1964, to the late Charles Harold and Annelle Barnett in Huntsville, Alabama. A proud patriot, Mr. Barnett enlisted in the United States Army and was part of the 24th Infantry Division. After his time in the service, he followed his taste for adventure and traveled around the country as a Truck Driver. In his spare time, Mr. Barnett enjoyed casting a line fishing, finding trinkets at Smiley’s Flea Market, and riding motorcycles. Most of all, he loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Sheila Smith Barnett.

His memory will forever be treasured by his children, John Barnett (Monique) of Albertville, Alabama; Stacey Barnett (Dan Gilmore) of Thomaston; Melissa Barnett (Maurice Corbin) of Warner Robins; Becky Barnett (Christian Pike) and Jennie Barnett (Grant Carter), all of Lizella; Billy Barnett (Haley Chancey) of Warner Robins; and Matthew Barnett (Sabrina Preskitt) of Lizella; as well as 11 grandchildren.

A memorial gathering with Mr. Barnett’s family will be Monday, May 3, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The memorial service celebrating his life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Cleghorn officiating.
