Guerry Eugene Smith

Guerry E. Smith, 78, walked through Heaven's gates on Monday, November 23, 2015.

Guerry was born on April 18, 1937 in Manchester, Georgia to the late Eugene and Loette Thompson Smith. It was with great honor that he enlisted in the United States Air Force, before beginning his career as logistics manager at Robins Air Force Base; he retired in 1993 after over 35 years of service. Guerry also served as a Centerville City Councilman and helped Centerville purchase their first fire engine. He was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church of Centerville where he formally served as church treasurer. Guerry was a devoted Christian who loved his church home and church family. He was an avid golfer and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Along with his parents, his sister, Nell Pettitt, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 54 years, Myra Smith of Centerville; daughters, Vanessa Smith Maddalena (Steven) of Denver, Colorado, Amanda Smith Roberson (Dean) of Bonaire, Becky Smith Guillory (Lawrence) of Suwanee; grandchildren, Natalie Roberson, Olivia Roberson, Daisy Guillory; and siblings, Donald Smith (Jan) of Cochran, and Sue Fowler of Warm Springs.

Visitation will be Friday, November 27, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Trinity Baptist Church of Centerville. A private service will follow, where Mr. Smith will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
