Hal C. Cook

Early on the morning of Saturday, January 20, 2018, Hal C. Cook, 87, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven.

Mr. Cook was born on June 22, 1930, in Milan, Georgia to the late Millard A. and Elizabeth Walker Cook. After serving for a time in the United States Air Force, he attended Georgia Southwestern College, Mercer University, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He served Baptist churches in Georgia and Texas as a minister of music and associate pastor for 39 years. A member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church, Mr. Cook was a beloved musician known to many in Middle Georgia as a kind and faithful man of God. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Hulda Yawn Cook; his sister, Claire C. Lowery of Athens; and his brother, Quay Cook of Cochran.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving sons, Reverend Andy Cook (Melody) of Fort Valley and Dany Cook of Warner Robins; brothers, Don Cook (Joan) of Jasper and Ben Cook (Marsha) of Marietta; granddaughters, Summer Bolte (Mike), Melinda Cook, and Courtney Delgado (Danny); four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with Mr. Cook’s family will be Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2018, at Shirley Hills Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Millwood, Reverend Jacob Green, and Reverend Andy Cook officiating. Following the service, Mr. Cook will be laid to rest next to his wife in Parkway Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions be made to Heart of Georgia Developmental Disabilities Ministry (DDM), 238 Hatcher Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
