Harold Allen Corzine

November 23, 1932 — May 3, 2023

Harold “Hal” Allen Corzine, 90, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

Hal was born on November 23, 1932, in Wayne, Nebraska to the late Kermit Allen Corzine and Rose Delia Corzine. Hal grew up in Wayne, where he graduated from high school and attended Wayne State Teachers College. He then served four years in the Navy, where he’d meet his wife at a duty station in Puerto Rico. He continued his education throughout his life, constantly taking new classes to further his learning. He earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in meteorology, then worked towards his Doctorate from Florida State University. Hal moved his family to Northern Virginia in 1967, where he spent the bulk of his career working for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and would become the acting Deputy Director after years spent researching different types of weather patterns. As Deputy Director, he had the task of presenting budgets to Congress on behalf of NOAA. After he retired, Hal and Alice relocated to Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, where they’d remain for 25 years before settling in Warner Robins, Georgia in 2019. Hal was a good and intelligent man, a wonderful father, and the best husband anyone could want. He was well respected by everyone who met him and was always very active in his community. He once wrote an autobiography titled, “I am… I Said: Memoirs of a Common Man”. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, eating, genealogy and ancestry, writing, and listening to Neil Diamond and other music that he loved.

His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Alice M. Corzine; children, John Allen Corzine, Terri Lynn Mullens, and Carol Ann Lassard; grandchildren, Jason Bunch, Shannon Hargrave, Jessica Wilson, Samantha Jones, Lauren Barry, and Erin Wood; great-grandchildren, Seth Bunch, Sean Bunch, Audrey Bunch, Andrea Bunch, Rylee Wilson, Bryson Garrett, Jamerson Wood, Lilah Wood, and Josie Wood.

A memorial service will be held at The Phoenix at Lake Joy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
