Harold ''Gene'' Matheney

Harold ''Gene'' Matheney, 65, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003. Services will be held on Thursday, May 8 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.

Born in Highland City, Florida, Mr. Matheney was a retired Houston County Chief Constable and veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served as Little League Coach in the National Little League for several years. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a former California Team Roper and member of the Mojave Desert Dune Buggy Club. His parents, Corneilous and Emma Matheney, and son, Bruce Matheney, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Lee Matheney, Warner Robins; daughters, Sonia Johnson, Columbus, MS, and Darlene Knight, Atlanta; sons, Steve Matheney, Macon, and Alex Al-Marry, Warner Robins; grandchildren, Christopher Knight, Frankie Johnson, Eric Johnson, Kelly Johnson, Jonathan Matheney, Anna Matheney, and Chase Knight; and great-grandchild, Camron Johnson.
