Harry David Dunkerton

October 3, 1938 — August 9, 2019

Harry David Dunkerton, 80, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019.

Harry was born in North Charleroi, Pennsylvania on October 3, 1938 to the late Harry Dunkerton and Clara Schmer Fear. He proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Air Force for a total of 10 years during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. In the Air Force, Harry served as an air traffic controller where he developed a healthy knowledge of computer systems. Following his military career, he applied his know-how of computers to a career in support of missions at Robins Air Force Base. Harry went on to work as a senior field engineer for the Burroughs Corporation which turned into Unisys, and then worked for Xyquad.

Harry was big into computer gaming and was a huge movie buff; he had tons of movies and one of his sons shares the same passion. He was a Scoutmaster and also collected and worked on model toy trains of which he had an elaborate collection and set-up. Harry loved tending to the koi ponds in his yard, as well.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Dunkerton; his granddaughter, Megan Chandras; and his brothers, “Chuck,” “Red,” and “Big Red.”
Harry will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 15 years, Loretta Dunkerton; children, Dawn Johnson (Charlie), Felicia Marchman, David Dunkerton (Danitia), Shawn Dunkerton (Carrie), Harry C. Dunkerton, Robert Bowen, and Scott Brown (Hillary); grandchildren, Jonathan Baker, Erica Coleman, Kirsten Johnson, Luke McMenamin, Adrionna Marchman, Adam Dunkerton, Brandi Gadson, Trevor Dunkerton, Dylan Dunkerton, Christopher Dean, Stephanie Givens, Felicia Harris, Jeremy Dean, Kayleigh Shaw, Shawn Dunkerton, Jr., Patrick Dunkerton, Alicia Dunkerton, Caleb Riley, Jacob Riley, Odyn Brown, Ivan Brown, Jacob Nelson, Quiana Wilkinson, Andrew Wilkinson, Skye Wilkinson, Brandon Wilkinson, and Gabriel Wilkinson; and 19 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
