Harvey C. Elder

Harvey C. Elder, 87, entered into the gates of Heaven on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

Harvey was the son of the late James C. “Jim” and Lear McBryant Elder. He was born on November 20, 1934, in Abbeville, Wilcox County, Georgia. After high school, Harvey enlisted in the United States Air National Guard where he served with pride and honor as a Master Sergeant. Coinciding his time in the military, he also served his country as an Air Craft Technician on Robins Air Force Base. A member of Bonaire United Methodist Church, Harvey was a vital part of the Fan Alice Sunday School Class. He was also a Mason.

In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn L. Elder; sisters, Sara Jane Brown and Grace Daniels Attaway.

He is survived by his children, Teresa Eberhardt (Rick) of Albany; and Judy Smith (Dane) of Butler; grandchildren, David Eberhardt of Albany; Michael Eberhardt of Albany; Cullen Smith of Savannah; and Drew Smith of Athens; and sister, Mary Bissette of Dublin.

Visitation will be held on Sunday April 3, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Harvey’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2022, at Bonaire United Methodist Church. Afterward, Harvey C. Elder will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Harvey C. Elder to Bonaire United Methodist Church, 221 Church Street, Bonaire, Georgia 31005.
