Helen P. Stephens, 91, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 11, 2014.

Helen was born on November 5, 1922 in Nashville, Tennessee. She retired from the International Travel Department of the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta and owned and operated Georgia Welding Equipment and Supply with her husband, George. Following retirement, they called themselves the Geritol Gypsies, traveling to every state in the union as well as every province in Canada. Helen and George loved to dance and were members of The Druid Hillbillies Square Dance Club. She loved the ocean, walking on the beach, collecting sea shells, sewing and doing arts and crafts. Helen was a woman of great faith, strength and love. She was a member of Bonaire First Baptist Church and the Joyful Hearts Senior Group.

Her husband, George A. Stephens; daughter, Georgia Stephens; parents, Henry Hance and Hinda Burton Piper; and sister, Judy L. Moak, preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Suzanne Millard (John) of Gainesville, Georgia; Michael Stephens of Fleming Island, Florida; Lisa Hill (Rick) of Bonaire, Georgia, and grandchildren, Michelle Pennington (Dustin), Chip Graham (Dawn), Avery Winslett (Jay), Brittney and Erin Hill and Christopher Stephens (Whitney); 8 great-great grandchildren; brother, Henry B. Piper (Dot); and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life (she called it her graduation celebration) will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Bonaire First Baptist Church. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Helen requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 886 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201, an organization in which she found great strength and comfort.
