Henry Harpe Suggs

Harpe Suggs, 82, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016.

Harpe was born on June 3, 1934 in Leslie, Georgia to the late Murray and Jennie Belle Harpe Suggs. He grew up in Vienna and graduated from Vienna High School in 1951. Harpe proudly joined the United States Army where he served in the 11th Airborne Division as a paratrooper. Following his military career, he moved with his family to Unadilla and began a stellar career in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. They later moved to Warner Robins and Mr. Suggs retired in 1991 as a supervisory computer specialist. First Baptist of Unadilla was his church home.

In Harpe's retirement years, he helped his sons operate Marble Masters of Middle Georgia, Inc. He was also a Master Mason with Tyrian Lodge 111 and an Al Sihah Shriner. Mr. Suggs was an active member of the Warner Robins Bridge Club. He was formerly active with the Unadilla Jaycee's and was a Scoutmaster, as well. Despite his love for those extracurricular activities, his absolute favorite pastime was watching his grandchildren play sports, he never missed a game.

His memory will forever be treasured by his devoted wife of 62 years, Ruth Brannen Suggs of Warner Robins; sons, Neil David Suggs (Kara Karch) of Warner Robins and Darren Brannen Suggs (Karen Dilling) of Byron; and grandchildren, Schafer, Parker, Karlyn, and Brannen.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 4th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. At Harpe's request, his body was donated to Mercer University School of Medicine for the advancement of science.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be given in memory of Harpe to the American Lung Association of Georgia, 2452 Spring Rd., Smyrna, GA 30080.
