Homer Reese Bryant, Jr.

October 3, 1946 — September 28, 2021

On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, Homer Reese Bryant, Jr., passed away at the Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins.
A Middle Georgia native, Homer was born on October 3, 1946, in Byron, Georgia. He was the son of the late Homer Reese Bryant, Sr. and Rebecca Watson Brookins. A dedicated worker, Homer’s first job was at Bryant Appliance, where he worked for many years. A repair person, Homer knew how to do and fix everything. Later on, Homer was a truck driver for a number of years at the Macon Telegraph. Of the Christian faith, he was a devoted member of Byron Baptist Church. Homer also loved to hunt and fish whenever the opportunity arose.

Homer’s favorite phrase to say was, “the good Lord knows;” and the good Lord knows that Homer loved his family unconditionally. He was the best father and taught his children right from wrong. A gentle giant, Homer had a heart of gold.
In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his son, William Bryant; granddaughter, Christina; and his brother, David Bryant.

Homer’s memory will be treasured by his beloved wife of 24 years, Betty Jean Earhart Bryant; children, Peggy Ogletree (Michael); Crystal Williams (Richard); David Bryant; Terry Bryant (Brooke); and Brandon Bryant (Harley), all of Georgia; grandchildren, Allen, Steven, Michelle, Shannon, Richie, Samantha, Jeremiah, Jade, and Zane; many great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Brookins Trayler; and good friend, Jim.

A memorial gathering with Homer’s family will be held on what would have been Homer’s 75th birthday, Sunday, October 3, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The memorial service celebrating his life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Following the service, Homer’s inurnment will be private.
