Iris R. Aguila

Iris R. Hernandez Aguila of Warner Robins passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

Born in Guayama, Puerto Rico on May 10, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Benigno Hernandez and Ramona Ines Morales, also of Guayama, Puerto Rico.

She was married to her late husband Rafael Aguila-Galan and she followed him to the United States where he had a long career in the United States Army. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and adored all of her grandchildren. Throughout her husband’s military career, she had the opportunity to travel the world. The couple spent time in Spain, Germany, Brussels, Greece, France, Italy, and many other places. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents, Benigno Hernandez and Ramona Ines Morales Hernandez as well as her husband of 64 years, Rafael Aguila-Galan, and her brother, Ruben Hernandez.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her sons, Rafael J. Aguila, MD (Rida) of Warner Robins and Edgardo R. Aguila of Boston, Massachusetts; her grandchildren, Carolyn Dedougd (Randy) of Florida, Taw-nee Roberts (Brandon) of Warner Robins, Chandra Aguila of Warner Robins, Alexandra Stephens of Macon, Samantha Cuellar of Inverness, Florida, Bradford Aguila (Mary) of Perry, Kaila Aguila of Kathleen, and Gabe Aguila of Warner Robins; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation with Iris Aguila's family will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at McCullough Funeral Home. the funeral service to celebrate her life will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Father Fred Nijem officiating. Mrs. Iris Aguila will be laid to rest at Magnolia Park Cemetery. The service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/. A family-only reception will be held at The Farmhouse at McCullough Funeral Home following the graveside service.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be made in Iris Aguila’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon, GA 31201.
