J.L. Killingsworth, Sr.

J.L. Killingsworth, Sr., 82, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 26, 2016.

John Lewis was born on October 30, 1933 in Alamo, Georgia to the late J.T. and Vita Pearl Dixon. With great pride and honor he served in the United States Army. In the years following his active duty career, J.L. was employed at Robins Air Force Base for 38 years before retiring. He then worked for the Madison Research Company for 8 years. J.L. was a member of Central Baptist Church, Warner Robins Demons Touch-Down Club and a charter member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church. He helped start and coach the T-ball program in Warner Robins with C.L. Lewis. J.L. enjoyed fishing and baseball; he was an Atlanta Braves fan. However, his greatest joy was found in family and most particularly in being an adoring "Grand Pa" to his five beloved grandchildren.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 62 years, Avalough Rogers Killingsworth of Warner Robins; sons, John "Johnny" Lewis Killingsworth, Jr. (June) of Jesup; Jeffrey Killingsworth (Lisa) of Fayetteville; Joel Mark Killingsworth (Leslie) of Duluth; step granddaughter, Kelly Darwin; grandchildren, Tracy, Lauren, Jamie, Kelly; and brother, Wendell Killingsworth of Dexter.

Visitation with J.L.'s family will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. After the service, J.L. will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of J.L. Killingsworth, Sr.
to the charity of donor's choice.
