Jack Free Daviss

January 7, 1924 — July 31, 2017

On the morning of Monday, July 31, 2017, Jack Daviss, 93, passed away surrounded by his family.

Jack was born on January 7, 1924 in Aliceville, Alabama to the late Gilbert and Fannie Daviss. In 1941, with great honor, he joined the United States Navy where he traveled many places including England, France, and Africa. Jack served during World War II and on D-Day he was in Normandy/Omaha Beach, France. He then began his career in civil service at Robins Air Force Base where he worked as an Industrial Engineer for 30 years. Jack’s heart’s desire was to help others; this was shown through his dedicated service for 20 years to the Christian Social Food Bank Ministry.

Along with his parents, his loving wife, Shirley Daviss; siblings, Ethel McKinstry, Ann Bowen, Bill Daviss, and James Daviss; and son-in-law, Frank Brinson, preceded him in death.

Jack’s memory will forever be treasured by his children, Glen Houston Daviss (Donna) of Warner Robins, Debbie Manning (Glenn) of Kathleen, and Dyann Brinson of Emerald Isle, North Carolina; grandchildren, Crystal Huntsman (Mark), Blake Manning (Jordan), Julie Marie Sealy (Ethan), Sheri Brinson, and Frankie Brinson (Tami); great-grandchildren, Carter Huntsman, Charlotte Grace Huntsman, Daviss Asher Sealy, Macy Brinson, and Allie Brinson; and sister, Clarriasa Snelling of Newnan.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 in the Chapel of McCullough.
