Jack Raymond Young

Jack Raymond Young went to be with his Lord, February 16, 2010. Jack was one of twin boys born to Maggie and Hampton Young in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, September 25, 1925.

He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 in 1942, serving as a Naval Aviator in anti-submarine warfare, along with search and rescue operations during World War II. Following the war, he was a crew chief for the Navy's first Blue Angel flight demonstration team. He was an emeritus member of the Howard Masonic Lodge and with a Master Mason degree.

After leaving the Navy in 1950, he was recruited to work at the newly established Warner Robins Air Force Base in the Air Maintenance division. He was instrumental in modifying aircraft for the C-141 Stretch project, along with the gunship program during the Vietnam War. He retired from Robins Air Force Base in 1981 and enjoyed his later years gardening and doting on his grandsons.

Mr. Young is predeceased by twin brother James, sister, Elma, and son Tony.

He is survived by wife of 55 years, Bessie, sister, Anne, son Joe (Georgette) Young, daughter, Jan (Ray, Sr) Tadeo, and grandsons, Michael Wolfe, Emmanuel Tadeo, Peter Tadeo and Ray Tadeo, Jr.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 20th, at the Centerville Cemetery, Church Street, Centerville.
