Jack Willard Martin

February 27, 1944 — July 25, 2021

Jack Willard Martin, age 77, passed away on July 25, 2021, in Perry, Georgia.

Jack was born in Warner Robins on February 27, 1944, to the late Willard Wails Martin and Ruth Glover Martin. W.W. Martin was the first police chief in the small town of Wellston, before the city became Warner Robins. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jack spent 30 years in law enforcement working for both the Warner Robins Police Department and the Houston County Sheriff’s Department. He served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. In the early 1960s, Jack was employed at Watson Funeral Home which was the precursor to what is now McCullough Funeral Home. In his younger days, Jack was a local product of Houston County schools and attended Warner Robins High School.

A huge fan of Christmas, Jack collected yard decorations for his annual display. His house in Perry was almost a destination for people to drive by during the holiday season to see his ornaments. Not only did he like to decorate for Christmas, he was passionate about keeping his yard immaculate throughout the year.

Left to treasure the memory of Jack are his daughter, Kelly Cofield (Paul) of Bonaire; son, Neal Martin (Olivia) of Dublin; and grandchildren, Hadley Cofield and Tyler and AnnaKate Martin. He is also survived by his loyal companion and dog, Buddy.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021 at McCullough Funeral Home. His funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
