Former Warner Robins High School basketball standout Jacquelyn Miles Welch died Thursday, August 13, 2020, unexpectedly and at age 74. A native of Montezuma, she moved to Warner Robins in 1953 and attended C.B. Watson Elementary School, Bert Rumble Middle School and Warner Robins High School.
Jacquelyn may have been short of stature, but this 5-foot-tall woman excelled on the court as a guard where she made the All Star team. After high school, she held many different jobs, although her most important role was as a homemaker. Over the years, Jacquelyn was employed as a secretary at Great Southern Federal Bank, a receptionist at Charlie Pike Chevrolet, and as a waitress at Waffle House.
Born to the late Daniel Edgar Miles and Christine Butler Miles, she was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jewel Sydney Everson. Although divorced at the time of her passing, Jacquelyn’s former husbands included Barney Kemp, Sam Glasgow, Ronnie Minter, James Martin and Jessie Welch.
Survivors of Jacquelyn include her son, Daniel Vance Glasgow of Warner Robins; granddaughter, Jennifer Danielle Glasgow of Greely, Colorado; and brothers, Buddy Miles (Judy) and Edgar Miles (Pat), all of Warner Robins.
A graveside service will be held at Magnolia Park Cemetery on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Craig Hartzog presiding.
