Jamaal Dohnta "Redman" Smith

December 30, 2001 — November 16, 2020

On Sunday, December 30, 2001, a loving and caring spirit was welcomed in the world by Mr. Jornall Smith Sr. and Ms. Veronica Respress. Born in Houston County, Georgia, he was named Jamaal Smith, affectionately called “Redman.”

The early seeds of education were planted in mind as he attended the public schools of Houston County. Redman, as many called him, went to Lindsey Elementary School, Bonaire Middle School and was a senior at Win Academy, all located in Warner Robins, Georgia.

Jamaal was a very intelligent student with a smile that would light up any room and every heart. He had a captivating stare that showed you how big he loved. Outgoing and respectful, Jamaal never met a stranger and made friends with everyone he came across. He loved music, playing basketball and video games, but spending time with his brothers was where he was the happiest. Jamaal had a special bond with each of them and he loved them dearly. At the end of the day, to know Jamaal was to love him.

Jamaal joined Faith Perfecting Life Center Church under the leadership of Senior Pastor, Dr. Timothy C. Boone in Warner Robins. He gave his life to Christ on January 25, 2015.

On Monday, November 16, 2020, Jamaal was called to take his rest. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Johnny Walker Jr.; and his brother, Quontavious Battle.

Jamaal’s life and his love will be remembered by his mother, Veronica Respress; his father, Jornall Smith, Sr.; bonus parents, Ms. Kauilani Starks and Mr. Shawn Grissom; siblings, Jornall “JJ” Smith, Jr., Ve’Shawn Grissom, Jayda Smith, Ja’Korion “Scooter” Lowe, and Shawnteria Grissom; grandparents, Ms. Barbie Fluellen, Mr. Willie Respress, and Mrs. Vivian Clark (Henry Lee); great-grandmother, Ms. Renell Montford; aunts, Ms. Beverly Pleasant and Mrs. Shemeka Rouse (Deon); uncles, Tyrone Singleton (Lori) and Mr. Jovan Smith; loving and devoted cousin, T’Si Respress; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be Friday, November 27, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Jamaal will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery South in Bonaire following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given to a fund benefiting Jamaal Smith. These gifts can be made payable to McCullough Funeral Home with ‘Jamaal Smith Memorial Fund’ written in the memo line.

For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
