James Daniel Lott

December 18, 1924 — November 15, 2015

James Daniel Lott, 90, known very affectionately by his family as Poopaw and Poops, passed away on November 15, 2015 under the loving care of his family. The family thanks the staff of Heart of Georgia Hospice for their care of Mr. Lott during his final days. The family also thanks the staff of Summer's Landing in Warner Robins, GA for their care of Mr. Lott during the three years following the death of his wife.

Mr. Lott was born on December 18, 1924 in Lakeland, FL to Dan Lott and Vella O'Steen Lott. He grew up in Coffee County, GA and Lakeland, FL. Prior to losing his eyesight, Mr. Lott was heavily involved in vegetable and flower gardening, furniture reupholstering, and woodworking. He is remembered by family, friends and neighbors as one who took pride in his gardens and gave his harvest to many. Mr. Lott served in the US Army during World War II in the South Pacific as a regimental chief radio operator, intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance specialist, and radio school instructor. As a civilian, he was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration for 30 years in various locations throughout the southeast, including Macon, GA where he served as the Chief of the Flight Service Station at the Lewis B. Wilson Airport. He retired from the FAA in 1979. Mr. Lott was of Methodist faith and was a member of Bonaire United Methodist in Bonaire, GA. He was also a former member of Cherokee Heights United Methodist in Macon, GA. Mr. Lott was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sudie Frances Collum Lott, and siblings Waldo Lott, Pauline Lott Wilson, and Eugene Lott.

His memory will forever be treasured by his children Dianne Lott Lamb (Tommy) of Kathleen, GA, Kathy Lott Esser (Rick) of Panama City, FL, and Keith Daniel Lott (Gwen) of Dutton, AL; grandchildren Brian Cadotte (Jessica) of Norman, OK, Tiffany Fate of Valdosta, GA, Kelly Cadotte Nobles of Warner Robins, GA, and Kyla Lott of Dutton, AL; great granddaughter Hayden Nobles of Warner Robins, GA; great grandsons Joshua "Brennan" Nobles of Warner Robins, GA and James Vincent Cadotte (unborn) of Norman, OK; brother Robert Lott (Bess) and sisters Betty Lott Brown (John), Lucille Lott Mills, Frances Lott Butrico (William) and Faye Lott Ekbladh (Lee); step-grandchildren Karley Lamb Bowie, Daniel Lamb, Megan Lamb Brantley, Jennifer Lamb Crowder, Colt Tatum and Robert (Peanut) Bullington, and many extended family members.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, November 20, 2015 at McCullough Funeral Home with Funeral Services immediately following in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery.

The family will accept flowers, but those who wish may make donations in memory of James Daniel Lott to The Methodist Home for Children and Youth, PO Box 2525, Macon, GA 31203.
