James "J.J." Jarrett Frier, Ii

James “J.J” Frier, II, 75, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 after a lengthy illness.

J.J. was born on February 1, 1943 in Newberry, South Carolina to the late James E. and Alice T. Frier. He graduated from Byrnes High School at Duncan, South Carolina and the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. J.J. also obtained a Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Administration from Georgia College.

With pride and honor, J.J. served as an Officer in the Unites States Marine Corp having toured in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. After his military career, he came to Robins Air Force Base as a Civil Service employee working as a Procurement Specialist and contracting Officer. He retired in 2008 after forty-three years of government service.

J.J. was an avid reader and movie buff before his eyesight failed. He enjoyed sports, the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves. His greatest joy was watching his grandsons play sports and traveling with his wife when his health permitted.

His memory will forever be treasured by his high school sweet heart and beloved wife of fifty-two years, Martha; sons, Jim and Jarrett (Teri) and grandsons, Hayden and Dane.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with funeral services following at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel. J.J. will be laid to rest in Andersonville National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of James “J.J.” Frier, II to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Wounded Warrior Project at 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Frier’s arrangements.
