James "Jim" Manuel Miles

Jim Miles, 65, passed away at Medical Center Navicent Health on Thursday, January 24, 2019.

Jim was born in Mobile, Alabama, on July 24, 1953, to the late Rayford and Eddie Lee Miles. In the 1960s, he moved with his family to Warner Robins and graduated with Northside High School’s Class of 1971. Jim went on to earn his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Georgia Southwestern University and was a well-loved American History and Government teacher at Peach County High School for 30 years. His interest in Civil War history and Georgia folklore led him to become an accomplished author. Jim was an avid rock and roll fan and filled his years of retirement with concerts of his most loved musicians.

Jim’s memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 42 years, Earline Miles of Warner Robins; children, Paul Miles of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Melanie Barker of Warner Robins; grandsons, Xavier and Emmett Barker, both of Warner Robins; aunts, Dink Ridgeway and Jo Ann Hawkins, both of Frisco City, Alabama, and Lindy Bayles of Monroeville, Alabama; niece, Susan Loy (Bubba) of Loxley, Alabama; and nephew, Adam Miles of Lanett, Alabama.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 26, 2019, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. After the service, Jim will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be given in memory of Jim to the Human Rights Campaign. You can make donations at give.hrc.org or by mail to Memorial Gifts Program, c/o Human Rights Campaign, 1640 Rhode Island Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20036.

Arrangements for Jim have been entrusted to McCullough Funeral Home Chapel.
