Janet Denise Hamlin

February 27, 1959 — March 25, 2016

Janet D. Hamlin, a longtime resident of Warner Robins, passed away at Heart of Georgia Hospice in Perry, Georgia on Friday, March 25, 2016. After her 6 year battle with a brain tumor, she is now healed and in the presence of our Lord and Savior. Janet was born on February 28, (or so she thought!) in 1959 in Toccoa, Georgia to the late Carl and Kathryn Rumsey. The family only recently discovered that her actual birthday was on February 27, 1959.

Janet graduated from Towers High School in 1977 and went on to Dekalb College to study nursing. She then met her husband, Rick Hamlin, later that same year on October 8 and they were engaged just a year later. They were married for 36 years and had 3 sons: Jason, Corey, and Adam. They spent some time living in Lagrange, Georgia and then settled in Warner Robins. She worked at the Perry Hospital for a few years but spent most of her working career as a Paraprofessional at Feagin Mill Middle School, an Office Clerk at Bonaire Middle School, and a Parent Involvement Coordinator at Parkwood Elementary. One of the joys of her life was serving, along with her husband, as the director over the pre-teen department at Second Baptist Church. There she also taught 6th grade girls in Sunday School for fifteen years. Her anthem was to "shine like a highlighter" for Jesus so that others may see Him. She wanted everyone she met to know the love of Jesus because she knew there was nothing greater in life than to know and love Him. Anyone who met Janet heard about Jesus Christ and her infectious personality showed how much she loved people. Friends and family would often fill the Hamlin home to scrapbook or to just fellowship, as Janet loved to surround herself with the people she cared about most.

Those who knew Janet would describe her as a vivacious lady who was fearless, who made things happen, a leader, a mover, passionate, expressive, a best friend, a fighter for her family and the things she believed in, strong willed, Jesus lover, beloved mother, daughter, sister, completely committed wife who adored her husband with her whole heart and who, most of all, loved the Lord God with all her heart, mind, and strength.

In addition to her loving husband, Rick, Janet is also survived by their 3 sons and wives, Jason and Stacy, Corey and Tori, and Adam and Ashley; five precious grandchildren, Chase, Hunter, Reese, Kimbrel, and Everett; her brother, Richard Rumsey (Tina) and sisters, Connie Drolet (Ken) and Melissa Rogers (Glen); her precious in-laws, Reverend Olin and Mary Hamlin, as well as many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and an army of friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

A celebration of Janet's beautiful life will be held on Monday, March 28 at 3:00 pm at Second Baptist Church with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery in the Garden of the Lord's Prayer. Visitation with the family will be held Sunday evening, March 27, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at McCullough Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to her son's ministry, Project Reach Brazil, PO Box 86, Bonaire, GA 31005 - or - online at www.projectreachbrazil.com.
