Jean G Yawn

July 3, 1929 — January 12, 2018

Late on the evening of Friday, January 12, 2018, Jean Gardner Yawn, 88, joined her Lord and Savior in heaven.

Mrs. Yawn was born on July 3, 1929 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Callie Whitman Fuller. She married Leon Howard Yawn on August 10, 1956, and together they reared two sons to know and love Jesus Christ. She retired from Robins Air Force Base as an inventory manager. The Yawns were faithful members of Central Baptist Church, having joined the fellowship in 1961. Mrs. Yawn willingly served as a children’s Sunday School teacher and a Girls in Action leader. She also enjoyed devoting time to the International Ministry and Homebound Ministry of the church. In the early 1970s, the Yawns also volunteered to help start Sandy Valley Baptist Church for six years before returning to Central Baptist. But, above all, her priority in life was caring for her family and her home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years, Leon Yawn; her grandson, Craig Gardner; and her siblings, Theodore Fuller, Terry Fuller, Charles Fuller, F. Dee Fuller, and Rev. Grady Fuller.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her beloved sons, Steven Paul Gardner (Lee) of Pelham, Alabama and Samuel Grady Gardner (Barbara) of Kathleen; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her siblings, Rebecca Barge of Lizella, Millie Fowler of Conyers, Fran Trent of Fairburn, and Nina Edwards of McDonough; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation with Mrs. Yawn’s family will be Sunday, January 14, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018, at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Dilks and Rev. Paul Gardner officiating. Following the service, Mrs. Yawn will be laid to rest next to her husband at Parkway Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests that memorial contributions be made to Central Baptist church, 1120 Lake Joy Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mrs. Yawn’s arrangements.
