Jessie Mae West

April 5, 1941 — January 17, 2023

Jessie Mae West born to the late Jack and Louise Solomon on April 05, 1941. Her baby sister, Margaret Lester preceded her in death.

Jessie received her education at Vienna Public School. She was employed at Capri Restaurant as a head cook where some of the best food was cooked. She was also employed with Colton and Thelma Sexton where she was the proud caretaker of Smyth and Sam whom she loved dearly.

Jessie was a faithful member of Christ Chapel Unadilla and served as an usher until her health was compromised.

Jessie leaves behind her devoted husband (Robert West) of sixty-one years of marriage. He has always been a good provider. Left to cherish her memories are her children Robert B. West (Yvette), Shiron Phelps (William), and Reginald T. West (Pamela). She leaves them with the importance of valuing family, loving God, and building strong relationships.

In addition, she leaves a legacy of good ethics, keeping God and family first, cooking, and honoring parents to her grandchildren, Latravus F. West, Montay J. West (Emilee), Latoya Taylor, Tevin B. West (Cheyenne), Destini B. West, Jeremy L. West, Sydney Lockett, Deonte Phelps, Nicole Huffins (Jaa-mal), Christopher Phelps, and her three great grand boys, Jaxson, Grayson, and Braydon who will continue to care for her cat.

She has charged her sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends to continue to visit Man (Robert West) and make frequent checks on the family and each other just as she did.

To everyone, don’t weep for long, stay strong, and if you believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead. You will one day see me. So, it’s not goodbye… but I will see you in the bye and bye.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 12 noon at Christ Chapel Unadilla. Jessie will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery in Perry following the service.
