Jimmie Sue Smith

April 16, 1946 — April 6, 2021

Jimmie Sue Smith of Warner Robins passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. She was 74 years old.

Born in Jesup, Georgia, Jimmie Sue spent the majority of her younger years in Hazlehurst. She was the daughter of the late Jimmy Lee and Bernice Merchant Hall. She was an honor graduate from Jeff Davis County High School in 1964 where she was selected by her peers as their Homecoming Queen. Two years after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Paul Hamilton Smith. After the couple married, Jimmie Sue was a dedicated Air Force wife throughout her husband’s military career. During that time, she also earned a degree in mathematics from Wayne Community College and an accounting degree from East Carolina University, all while raising a family. She worked at a variety of jobs including bookkeeping, tax preparing and teaching.

When the Smiths moved to Warner Robins in 1977, Jimmie Sue got a position in civil service where she worked for many years as a Price Analyst in the Detachment 8, Reconnaissance Squadron for the U2 Program at Robins Air Force Base. She received her Masters in Business Administration from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville. Jimmie Sue was a longtime, faithful member of Centerville Baptist Church. A nature lover, she loved nothing better than riding through the mountains and being outdoors. She was an avid listener of classic country music and her family raved about her cooking.

Sue and Paul’s bond: “I don’t want to go but I’m ready. I will see you in the morning and I’ll be looking for you.”

Left to cherish the memory of Jimmie Sue are her husband of 54 years, Paul Hamilton Smith; children, Rodney H. Smith (Michelle) and Nicole S. Williams (Capt. Cody Williams, U.S. Army-Ret.); grandchildren, Leigh James, Morgan James, Annika Smith, Jackson Smith, Sadie Smith, Nicholas Williams, Dylan Williams, Nathan Williams and James Williams; and siblings, Wannell Thompson (Gary), Mildred Sellers (Steve), and Wayne Hall (Gail).
