Jimmy "Doc" Kitchens

d. October 19, 2017

On the morning of Thursday, October 19, 2017, Jimmy Kitchens passed away at his residence.

Jimmy was born and raised in Macon, Georgia and attended Lanier High School. Following high school, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. Jimmy was honorably discharged from the Army after a few years and went on to serve his community with the Macon Fire Department following in the footsteps of his grandfather who served Macon as a firefighter when horses pulled the fire engines. He later transferred to Robins Air Force Base where he continued to serve in Civil Service as a firefighter. Jimmy later became a tools and parts attendant before retiring. In his free time, he enjoyed “triking” with his wife and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Edward and Doris Deane Kitchens; and his grandson, Kolby Kitchens.

Jimmy’s memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 34 years, Debbie Kitchens of Perry; children, Debra Allen (Kevin) of Anderson, South Carolina and Mark Kitchens (Debbie) of Macon; stepsons, Billy Lamb of Warner Robins and Chris Lamb (Rhonda) of Woodstock; grandchildren, Sterling Bartlebaugh (J.C.), Bobby Stewart (Lauren), and Gillian, Dylan, Gracye, and Garrett Lamb; great-grandson, Tripp Stewart; and brothers, Larry Kitchens (Marti) of Milledgeville and Charles Kitchens (Laura) of Lizella.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for Jimmy’s nurse, Amber, and all of the staff at Heartland Hospice for the never ending love and support they showed to Jimmy and his family.

The family will greet friends at McCullough Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 23, 2017. A memorial service celebrating Jimmy’s life will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Jimmy Kitchens to your favorite charity.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Kitchens’ arrangements.
