Jo Dixon Bradley

August 25, 1940 — August 3, 2016

Jo Dixon Bradley, 75, of Centerville, Georgia, awakened with joy on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, to find herself in the presence of her risen Lord. Jo will be missed beyond measure by those who loved her, but there is rejoicing that she has received a new body that will never fail her.

Born at her home in Dexter, Georgia, Jo was the fourth child of five born to the late Willard and Alma Dixon. She graduated from Laurens County High School in 1958 and left home to become a clerk typist at Robins Air Force Base. She served her country at the base as a civilian for over 40 years, working in numerous positions and retiring as a security manager in the Plans and Programs office. Throughout her life, Jo volunteered her time and talents, offering her skill as a musician, playing the piano and the organ for many church congregations, and working with children as a Sunday School teacher and VBS leader. More recently, she was a member of the Shirley Hills Baptist Church and the Larry Julian Sunday School Class.

Among those she loved who welcomed her to her eternal home were her older brother, Frank Dixon; sister, Joyce Dixon; and stepdaughter, Tracy Leanne Steel.

The heartbroken who remain behind include her husband of 36 years, Gerald Bradley of Centerville; her cherished daughter, Andrea Willis Godwin, and son-in-law Michael Godwin of Annapolis, MD; and her precious granddaughters, Victoria and Caroline Godwin. She is also mourned by her sister, Dorothy Cullens of Dublin, brother, Don Dixon of Montrose, and sister-in-law, Grace Dixon of Hawkinsville, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating Jo's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016 in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, with Larry Julian officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests that donations in the name of Jo Bradley be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home at www.gbchfm.org.
