Joann Burge

JoAnn Burge, 80, entered into rest on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

Born JoAnn Thormalen on November 1, 1942, in Alice, Texas. She was married to Pruett W. Burge for 59 years. She had two children, Barbara E. Pettis of Albany, Georgia and Brian G. Burge of Pine Spring, Minnesota. JoAnn spent 26 years as a military wife, accompanying her husband as he pursued a law degree, and later worked in his office. During her life, she was a selfless wife, mother, grandmother, and godmother with a wicked sense of humor, enjoyed by all. She never met a stranger. She was a friend to all and was a servant of God and the world.

Her parents, Ceasar A. Thormalen and Barbara Mullins Neil, preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of JoAnn Burge to St. Jude Children's Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
