Joanna Richardson

February 10, 1969 — January 1, 2020

Joanna Michelle Richardson joined her heavenly father on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, and is dancing with her loved ones as an Angel. She was a gift which was given to all of us and brought joy, love, and peace to everyone she touched.

Joanna Michelle Richardson was born with blue eyes, blond hair, and a loving heart on February 10, 1969, in Lake Wales, Florida, to Larry Richardson and Sally Nolen. Her sweet nature, drive and determination, and sincere heart were apparent even from an early age. Joanna grew into a beautiful, determined woman with the kind of internal glow and beauty that we all admired. She smiled with her beautiful blue eyes and was never afraid to love with all she had.

Joanna finished high school and then embarked on her greatest accomplishment, nurturing and loving her twin boys, Barron and Brian. She was fierce in her mission to take care of those she loved and she always put other people first. Joanna worked as many jobs as she had to in order to provide a stable and loving home. She also attended college with coursework in business administration for several years and was a straight A student. Joanna’s favorite career was bounty hunting and she approached it with a mixture of strength and compassion.

She accomplished many things but was most proud of her children and her family. Relationships were central to Joanna and she provided unconditional love to so many of us. She always strived to take care of other people’s needs and put other people before herself. Joanna was loyal, unconditionally loving, spiritual, supportive, and strong. Relationships were vital to Joanna and she had a way of making every person important and irreplaceable. Joanna’s family was large and included many work, church, community and home members. She loved her family, God, church, her friends, her pets, and found enjoyment in all that life has to offer.

Joanna was so many things to so many people, including partner, friend, daughter, mother, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin. We all were blessed to have her in our lives and in our hearts. She taught us all about unconditional love and compassion. Joanna’s gifts were many and she was smart, selfless, and loving. Her death leaves a great void and her footsteps cannot be filled. There really are Angels among us and anyone who was blessed enough to receive Joanna’s love can testify to this. She was with us for too brief of a time and even though she is not here in person, she is still here with us in spirit. Joanna leaves a legacy of far greater value than wealth that includes strength, empathy, and love.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Sally Nolen; her adoptive parents, Jack and Viola Richardson; her brother, Larry Richardson, Jr.; and her nephew, Robert Reynolds, Jr.

Joanna is survived by her beloved sons, Barron and Brian Richardson; her father, Larry Richardson (Ann); her sisters, Ruthie Reynolds, Alana Nolen, and Jessica Nolen; her partner, Diana Robbins; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

We will embark upon a new chapter and take the gifts Joanna gave us and keep them in our hearts and souls and learn from the love that she so freely gave to us. Please join us in a celebration of her life and legacy in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home on Monday, January 6, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given to a fund benefiting Joanna Richardson. These gifts can be made payable to McCullough Funeral Home with “Joanna Richardson Memorial Fund’ written in the memo line.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
